How to Make the Perfect Cup Of Chai Tea with Tea Bags
For most of us, a cup of Chai is something we get at a coffee shop or restaurant. If we look over the counter while it's being prepared, we may observe the server taking a carton out of the fridge and creating a mixture of tea and ready made Chai. Although, this ready made version of Chai is a nice compliment to meal or snack, Chai made from scratch or nearly scratch...using tea bags, brings a whole new dimension to the tea making experience. The term Chai is a popular descriptive used in many parts of the world for the popular hot drink we refer to as tea. There are different variations of how it is made, but a good term to describe Chai would be to refer to is as "milk tea." Traditional Chai tea is a vibrant robust,dark tea. The drink which we think of as Chai in the west consists of milk, a sweetner and spices mixed to taste. To make Chai from a teabag, you will need to boil water. Then take a little boiling water and warm your teapot by swirling some of the boiling water into it and pouring it out. Then, place your water into the pot followed by the teabags. I recommend you use 2 cups of water for every teabag. The tea should steep for approximately 4-5 minutes. Then add your milk and sweetner to taste. It is with the addition of the sweetner and spicing combos that you create your own unique flair to your Chai. I prefer to use a raw brown sugar and spice my Chai with bourbon vanilla. Then pour with joy into your favorite mug or tea cup. It's a yummy combination that is a perfect compliment to a luscious dessert. |
